““One of greatest songwriters and musicians I have ever known”
Billy Joe Shaver (Texas)
“''I love his country fairly traditional style, strongly inspired by Hank
Williams, some of his compositions also sometimes make me think of Waylon Jennings ''
“As soon as he starts to play, you know where he came from: from the deep South of the United States. Who reads the biography of David Waddell, encounters many familiar names from the alternative country and singer/songwriter scene. Born in South Carolina he moved to Nashville in the early 1970s. He played in a period of over 40 years with Billy Joe Shaver, Townes Van Zandt, J.J. Cale, Blaze Foley,, Willy Nelson, Richard Dobson, Calvin Russell and too many more to list. Over the years, David developed his own style somewhere between country, blues, bluegrass, folk, and R & B. His live concerts are enhanced by his charismatic presence, his distinctive voice and appearance. He tells of a Texas beyond all cowboy romance, of simple pleasures, of misery, despair and violence, love and other drugs.”
- Thomas Kluge, Der Konstanzer
“'Real music played by a Real band with a Real good singer who should have been out front years ago''
- Frank Bradshaw, Maverick magazine UK
